Last updated: 1 August 2026
This privacy notice explains what personal information Ridge 3 Scaffolding collects when you use this website or contact us, why we collect it, how we look after it and what rights you have over it. We've written it in plain English rather than legalese, because a privacy notice nobody can read isn't much use to anyone.
1. Who we are
Ridge 3 Scaffolding ("we", "us", "our") is a scaffolding contractor based in Rotherham, South Yorkshire, United Kingdom. For the purposes of the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, we are the data controller for the personal information described in this notice.
If you have any question about this notice or about how we handle your information, contact us:
- Email: info@ridge3.co.uk
- Telephone: 0114 496 0100

| Server log data, including IP address, browser type and pages requested | Automatically, by our hosting provider, when you visit the site |
We do not knowingly collect any special category data (such as health information) and we ask that you do not send it to us. This website is not directed at children and we do not knowingly collect information about anyone under 18.
3. Why we use it, and our lawful basis
Under UK GDPR we must have a lawful basis for using your personal information. Ours are:
| What we do with it | Lawful basis |
|---|---|
| Responding to your enquiry and preparing a quotation | Steps taken at your request prior to entering a contract |
| Carrying out the work, arranging surveys, issuing documentation | Performance of a contract |
| Issuing invoices and keeping accounting records | Legal obligation, and our legitimate interests in running the business |
| Keeping health and safety records, including inspection reports | Legal obligation |

| Dealing with a complaint, dispute or insurance claim | Our legitimate interests in defending our legal position |
We do not send marketing emails or newsletters, and we do not sell, rent or trade your personal information to anybody. If that ever changes we will update this notice and, where the law requires it, ask for your consent first.
4. Who we share it with
We share personal information only where we need to, and only with organisations that are bound to keep it secure:
- Our hosting and email providers, who store the website and the messages sent through it.
- Our accountant and accounting software, for invoicing and statutory record-keeping.
- Our insurers and, if necessary, legal advisers, in the event of a claim or dispute.
- Scaffold design engineers and other subcontractors, where your job requires it — and only the information they need to do their part.
- Local authorities, where a highways or pavement licence application is required for your scaffold.
- HMRC and other regulators, where we are legally required to do so.
Our suppliers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we take reasonable steps to satisfy ourselves that appropriate safeguards recognised under UK data protection law are in place.
5. How long we keep it
- Enquiries that don't become jobs: up to 24 months, then deleted.
- Customer and job records, quotations and correspondence: 6 years from the end of the job, in line with the limitation period for contract claims.
- Accounting and tax records: at least 6 years, as required by HMRC.
- Health and safety records, including scaffold inspection reports: retained in line with our statutory duties and our insurers' requirements, which may exceed 6 years.
- Server logs: typically retained for a short period by our hosting provider for security and diagnostic purposes.
6. How we keep it safe
This website is served over an encrypted HTTPS connection, so information you submit through it is encrypted in transit. Access to enquiry data and customer records is limited to people within the business who need it to do their job. We keep our systems up to date and use reputable providers. No system can be guaranteed completely secure, but we take our responsibilities here seriously.
7. Cookies and tracking
This website does not set any tracking, advertising or analytics cookies, and it does not load fonts, scripts or embedded content from third-party servers. See our Cookie Policy for the full detail.
8. Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to:
- Be informed about how we use your information — that's what this notice is for.
- Access a copy of the personal information we hold about you.
- Rectification — have inaccurate information corrected.
- Erasure — ask us to delete your information, where there's no overriding reason for us to keep it.
- Restrict processing in certain circumstances.
- Data portability — receive your information in a portable format.
- Object to processing based on our legitimate interests.
- Withdraw consent at any time, where we relied on consent.
To exercise any of these, email info@ridge3.co.uk. We will respond within one month. There's no charge for making a request.
9. Complaints
If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, please tell us first so we can put it right. You also have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ICO), the UK supervisory authority for data protection:
- Website: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint
- Helpline: 0303 123 1113
10. Changes to this notice
We may update this notice from time to time — for example if we add analytics to the website, or if our company details change. The date at the top shows when it was last revised. Material changes will be made clear on this page.
